The Northwest Passage crew has made the unanimous decision to delay the expedition to summer 2022.

We have been in regular communication with leading members of the Inuit communities, and have come to the conclusion that it would not be fair or safe to put them at risk of Covid-19. Subsequently, the Canadian Government has confirmed our decision as correct, and have put a ban on recreational boats entering the NWP until February 2022.

In the meantime, we are launching another expedition closer to home. In June, the team will row from Newcastle to Orkney.

Our east coast expedition comprises part of the traditional first leg of the Hudson Bay Company route to the NWP and has the added benefit of finishing in Orkney – the home of Northwest Passage Expedition Gin. We’ll enjoy a hard-earned G&T!

The row will present a number of tough challenges and will set us up for the ultimate goal, the NWP in 2022.

Thank you to all who have supported us so far, we look forward to continuing to share our experiences and working with you as we endeavour to make both this summer, and next, a great success.
