Embark on an adventure and expedition to the toughest, coldest ocean in the world.
Every Ocean Rower whom has endured what feels like endless days at sea, knows innately what it takes to prepare mentally and physically for an epic expedition.
Rowing the Arctic, across our proposed passage has never been completed successfully by humans and this is your chance to make history and make a difference in the world.
As we row, we will be taking live footage of the Arctic, and raising awareness of what’s happening in our environment.
As we traverse through the Arctic, we will have no environmental impact nor leave any carbon footprint due to our advanced technology & equipment.
Our mission, should you wish to apply and row with us is to not only conquer a passage and route that hasn’t been attempted, but to also uncover, from an unbiased perspective what is occurring environmentally in the Arctic “as it happens”.
We will row through some of the coldest, wildest ocean with a strategy that’s never been done before in ocean rowing.
Our starting point will be in NE Canada and end in Alaska, the exact route is flexible and subject to change due to ice, weather conditions etc. however, our proposed route is shown on our map in the prospectus you can download as you apply.
This route hasn’t been successfully attempted by ocean rowers.
Our approach and strategy is to have a minimum of 3 boats and the human-power of a minimum of 15 rowers.
We welcome applications from those who have ocean rowing experience, or who have the skills and knowledge that will assist us in a successful voyage.
You will encounter rough and calm ocean, extreme low temperatures and the possibility of wildlife as well as unbelievable beauty and serenity amid the chaotic endeavour that is ocean rowing.
A World First
Expeditions like this are scarce and extremely challenging and a real test for human endeavour and achievement.
This passage has been attempted by many other expeditions, our strategy, boats and technology give us the advantage we require to ensure success is inevitable.

A Look Inside the expedition
We already have a team of experienced ocean-rowers on board, we are seeking those who are willing to participate and raise funds for this extreme expedition.
We encourage you to download the prospectus and apply as soon as possible if you are interested in a place.
Whilst we are seeking 15 rowers, this number is flexible – but time is of the essence to have our boats, sponsors and training programs in place.
Northwest Passage Ocean Row 2021
Make history, change the world and inspire others to do the same.
The Expedition and NWP 2021 is the brainchild of Leven Brown, who is a World Record Breaker, RYA MCA Yachtmasters Ocean qualified, with hands on knowledge of navigation, planning ocean passages, meteorology, crew management, yacht and ocean rowing boat preparation, maintenance and repairs.
Expedition Leader & Skipper
He is a multiple Guinness World Record holder and survival expert. Leven’s experience is second to none, his first ocean row (solo and unsupported from mainland Spain to Trinidad & Tobago) taught him the greatest respect for the ocean, and he gained great knowledge having no one else to rely on but himself in challenging situations.
Leven has rowed over 30,000 nautical miles, including the Trade Winds route several times, the North Atlantic from New York to the Scilly Isles and across the Indian Ocean from Western Australia to the Seychelles.
This is an expedition that will encounter danger, hence the development of our Expedition boat, designed by Ruairi Grimes of Aston Martin.
All expeditions carry a certain amount of risk, on this expedition all the risks have been looked at and mitigated, as far as possible.
With the best technology, training and expert leadership, our aim is to minimize risk and maximise the opportunity.
How much will it cost?
The cost is £50,000 per rower. We expect you to cover the costs via sponsorship (we can advise on this) with a deposit of £15,000 payable upon acceptance of an offer to join the crew & expedition.
Leven will advise on Sponsorship, so whilst this cost may seem prohibitive, don’t be afraid to apply if you’re really keen. There is a community to support you throughout the expedition, you won’t be left to do this on your own!
How long will it take?
Approximately 2 months. We plan to have the boats in place by early summer 2021.
When does the expedition start?
Weather permitting, we will start the expedition early June 2021.
However, we will be working hard to train and prepare throughout 2020 and early 2021, to ensure our crew and team are ready.
How many rowers are you looking for?
Our aim is to have a minimum of 3 boats with 5 crew aboard each vessel. Should we have more applications, we’ll build more boats!
Who can join the expedition?
All applications will be considered on merit.
I'm not an Ocean Rower, can I apply?
We’d expect you to have at least one ocean row under your belt, however, we are keen to hear from you if you have skills and experience that will assist the expedition and are willing to undertake intensive training.
Will there be an interview process?
Yes, if you haven’t rowed with Leven in the past, you will be required to either meet with Leven in Scotland (at your own expense) or via Skype/Zoom if you are overseas.
